Can the Raptors get back on track..
The Toronto Raptors will look to bounce back from a poor performance in Game 1 against the Boston Celtics.
They lost the game 112-94 and will have to play with more energy from the first quarter if they want to give themselves a chance against this good Boston Celtics team. We expect Pascal Siakam to be more aggressive driving to the rim and getting to his spots. He did have some great chances on Sunday, but failed to convert at the rim and from deep.
Vanvleet also couldn’t find his rhythm on Sunday, shooting 3/16 from the field and 2/11 from deep. We need Fred to come out aggressive and look for his shots early, to get himself going to give this team a chance tonight against the Celtics.
Marc Gasol has been awful since the restart of the season. He did only shoot 3/7 for 7 points in Game 1, but he needs to make some of those open 3’s that the Celtics are giving him. He had some clean looks in Game 1 but wasn’t able to knock them down. He needs to get himself going and Raptors need him to perform in this series.
On defense, they need to do a better job closing out to the corner 3’s, where the Celtics were getting too many open looks on Sunday. Maybe play more man to man in those situations.
The Celtics have now beaten the Raptors twice in this NBA bubble and those are the only 2 losses the Raptors have. Both games were pretty 1 sided with the first game being prior to the play-offs, where the Celtics won 122-100 and at one point had a 40 point lead on the Raptors.
Tonight game is very important to the Raptors, if they lose Game 2 there playoff hopes might be over. I know they came back from a 2-0 lead against the Milwaukee Bucks last year, but that was with Kawhi Leonard. This year especially with no fans and no home court advantage, it can be very tough to come back from a 2 games down.
Will have to wait and see how the Raptors come out tonight. Hopefully they can bounce back from that poor performance on Sunday and come out with the win.
